The Rallie Recap
🏎️ AI is not the only one taking the world for a ride, this time it’s crypto! Here’s the rundown on the blockchain games:
The rumbles of change and a bull market. 🐂 The crypto market is back! With bitcoin’s price doubling since the start of 2023 and XRP’s legal success in the U.S. courts, the blockchain industry is growing “very, very rapidly by trillions of dollars.” 📶
💡 Despite 2022’s crypto price crash wiping out $2T USD in value, banks such as BlackRock want in on the digital asset market.
Still… there is ₿ Bitcoin doubt. The price of bitcoin sank to $28.9K USD due to Binance’s legal troubles and in anticipation of a major Federal Reserve policy decision regarding interest rate hikes.
🔮 Expect the unexpected, and mixed predictions for the future.
#BTC dropped below 29k due to a massive sell-off, wiping out 1.5Bn Open Interest and 9M USD in minutes. Leverage in the market caused more volatility as shorts covered and new positions were opened. #Coinbase shows heavy selling, possibly institutions cashing out.

Crypto's world - a place of boom-bust fascination.
We've been through three bear markets.
The cycle's flip side counters bull exuberance.
Like sifting wheat, we find value in chaos.
Remember, bear markets birth diamonds under pressure.

🏛 How is the SEC playing into this? If you remember from our coverage on Binance’s fight against the government body, you know that what is defined as a security for crypto is a big deal for the lawsuits against exchanges. 👩🏻⚖️
But a precedent has been set. Ripple’s XRP token has been ruled that it’s not a security. A move that rips apart the SEC’s anti-crypto campaign claiming all digital assets (expect Bitcoin) are securities, and thus fall under the jurisdiction of the SEC. 📜
🔎 This leaves less uncertainty for crypto regulation and an edge for crypto exchanges to fight current and future security lawsuits.
So, the @SECGov ....

🇺🇸 And so, the weakening of anti-crypto sentiment in the U.S. is being utilized. Crypto banking firm, BCB Group, is planning to offer instant USD settlements by the end of 2023. 🤝
What does this mean? 🤔 It means that largest medium for moving money between the traditional banking system and the crypto-sphere for people with USD bank accounts is underway. 🌎 And where the U.S. leads, Canada usually follows.
But another unpopular movement in crypto has started after the SEC’s Ripple fight. 🔐 A startup specializing in blockchain data, Arkham Intelligence, has "created a marketplace that allows people to buy and sell blockchain data.” 🕵🏼♂️
📸 Essentially, it’s a public market for outing crypto identities. Even though digital assets can be traced, privacy is still key in the community.
The company argues it helps with risk management and exposing major fraud 💪 …however, Arkham’s 23 year-old CEO says securities holes do not inspire hope. 😅
😲 Meanwhile, Worldcoin, a new cryptocurrency and digital ID project (World IDs), led by OpenAI’s CEO, just launched. Some people are skeptical.
One of the most level headed experts calls #worldcoin a straight up SCAM.
-Sketchy tokenomics
-Backdoor deals
-Market makers incentive to dump
-Price won’t get above $2.50 anytime soonWatch the full clip below 👇🏻

Others are hopeful and Worldcoin launched with $25M USD of trading volume on Binance. 💰 Additionally, World IDs hopes for blockchains to preserve privacy and verify individual identities online amidst generative AI becoming more human-like. 👩💻
However, the use of biometric data in these products should be something you DYOR on.
🤼🏻♂️ Each setback and stride in these industries has audiences of millions and bets in the trillions.
Headlines That Hit
🐥 Rebrand! Elon Musk has renamed and rebranded Twitter as X, bye bye blue bird!
😬 Already?! Thread’s daily active user count has dropped by ~70% since its launch. Ouch!
⛽ Fossil fuels. Canada becomes the first country among its wealthy, heavy-emitting peers, to publish plans for eliminating inefficient fossil fuel subsidies.
🎶 Expensive beats. Spotify ups its premium subscription plans citing an evolving market landscape with as much as a 20% increase for some plans.
Rallie Refresh: Problem Child
😮 Part of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) family, what businesses fall under the problem child label? Today, we dive into part of a matrix that may be having a comeback soon.
🛟 What is a problem child business?
The problem child is quadrant in the BCG/Boston Matrix, and it’s a business that has good growth potential but a small share of the growing market. 🌱
Getting the problem child out of its rut and into a star (the division within a company that has a large market share in a rapidly expanding industry) is an expensive capital investment.
✋ Why the labels?
The BCG Matrix is used to help businesses identify and set their priorities for deciding if they want to invest more money or liquidate business lines. 👀
🌐 Still relevant?
Some argue that terms such as the problem child are outdated, and suited more for conglomerates in the 1970s.⌛
😎 However, if corporate culture shifts back to conglomeration — something that still hangs on in regions like Asia— then we may see the BCG matrix and others make a comeback. 💃🏻
