📉 It's a bearish outlook for China.

• For the first time in 60 years, China's population has fallen, entering an 'era of negative population growth.'

• Reports show that in 2022, the population fell to 1.4b, declining by 850k from 2021.

• China's population has been trending down for years, causing the gov to scrap it’s controversial one-child policy in 2016. For decades, the country's demographic had been shaped by the policy, which was introduced in 1979 to slow population growth.

• As a culture, China historically favours boys over girls, and the policy had unintended consequences, resulting in a rise in abortions and an increase in the number of girls placed in orphanages, ultimately skewing the gender ratio from the '80s on.

🌝 Crypto to the moon!

• If you're a HODLer, then you're probably smiling right now. This week, crypto markets surged to regain the $1t market cap for the first since November 2022.

• Bitcoin jumped 22% to over $21k USD, Ether hit $1,600 USD, and Solana rose almost 70%, trading at $24 USD on Monday, up from $9 USD a few weeks ago. Get it, girl.

• But alas, the surge in prices caused over $500m in liquidations, with over 70% of traders booking losses as many didn't see the rallie (wink, wink) coming, and were shorting the market (aka betting against higher prices). We hope someone is checking in on the crypto bros.

🤯 Anyone know when the new season of The Handmaid's Tale is out?

• This week, Missouri State lawmakers voted to revise a dress code requiring female legislators to wear a jacket. Meaning women lawmakers no longer have the right to bare arms. 

• The dress code, which was formally adopted by a vote of 105-51, sparked heavy criticism from many, describing the effort as sexist and pointless.

• And, unfortunately, the new rule was introduced by a woman, State Rep Ann Kelly, who claimed that the rule is 'essential to always maintain a formal and professional atmosphere.' Face palm.

• GM: Short for 'Good Morning.' In crypto, it's used to greet others, and build camaraderie online.

• HODL: Meaning ‘hold on for dear life,’ the term HODL is derived from a misspelling of ‘hold’, which has stuck around and now refers to a buy-and-hold strategy.

• DYOR: This popular term stands for ‘do your own research.’ In crypto, it’s used to remind y'all to vet a project before investing.

• FUD: Short for ‘fear, uncertainty, and doubt’. It refers to general scepticism about crypto as an asset class and can sometimes result in the spreading of exaggerated negativity on the topic.
